traces of

suburbia

A 'mockumentary' following the life of Mercy post-alcoholism. Her     beautiful suburban family begins to crack with tensions oozing out,  as their reality blurs to offer a more introspective recording. The        documentary-style shooting prods the line between truth and fiction. Script was created with verbatim techniques, so sections of the.   dialogue were sourced from first/second-hand interviews.

As the film journeys through a surrealist shift, the protagonist's husband confronts their true sexual orientation through fantastical episodes inspired by James Bidgood's Pink Narcissus. Ultimately, an internalized homophobia intoxicates the imagery. The film was selected for various festivals internationally, and was available to watch on London Lift-Off & Out of The Can's corresponding streaming platforms.
